‘Ikamafana has worked in a different number of roles in the public sector for over 40 years. In 1979, he worked for the Auckland District Court Justice Co-managing the interpreting pilot scheme for 12 years.
In 1992, ‘Ikamafana was involved with the Auckland Area Health Board, Managing Pilot interpreting service. His other roles include being a team member of the Peaceful Waves, anti-violence team, working for the Special Education Services, and the national role of Managing Pacific Responsiveness to Pacific Special needs. He also project managed EVMA anti-violence contract (2 teams – Samoan – ‘Galufati malie’ and Tongan – Matangi Malie 12 years) with the Ministry of Health.
In 2005 ‘Ikamafana was appointed as the Branch Manager for the Pacific Division specifically managing the Nuku’alofa INZ branch office under the Department of Labour.
He is currently employed with the Counties Manukau District Health Board, interpreting services and hold advisory roles with the Ministry of Pacific Advisory Council; Auckland City Police Pacific Advisory Board and Pacific Stroke Steering Committee.
Fun Fact: Ikamafana hates oily food and is a strong advocate for healthy eating.
